AWARENESS EVENT

20 MAY, 2017

SOSHAD Centre hosted an event awareness where the community of Soshanguve, parents, learners and other guests were invited by the centre enjoyed themselves to what seemed as a fun-filled educational event for everyone most importantly for the community of Soshanguve. The day started off with Mr Dau Kholofelo, the centre Manager welcoming the guests to the events, followed by everyone singing the national anthem and then a short prayer to stat the day. The programme director was Ms Getty, a volunteer at the centre who was doing social work integrated learning. 
Mrs Verinica Baloyi spoke of how she went from not knowing anything about disability to being disabled, she shared her story to the audience. She also told the learners to not give oy and for parents to continue to support their children and give them the care they deserve. 
The event followed by the learners at the centre showing off their singing, drama and acting, poetry and dancing skills to the audiences. It was a great atmosphere as everyone chanted at the learners. One of learners Matome presented a poem about disability which really changed the atmosphere and the audiences seemed to have loved the poem. The poem and the drama were both composed by Tshegofatso Michelly, one of the volunteers from Tshwane University of technology doing work-integrated learning. 
The event was much of success, Mr Sello Hopane, the owner of the centre described how disability impacted his life was he born with a disability. He further explained how he had to accept the challenges being disabled came with. He then motivated the learners, parents and community that disability is inability because it does not mean you cannot be successful.
 Catherine Mana from the rehabilitation team shared the word with the parents about disability, on how to cope with disability or how to cope living with a person is disabled. Ms Mana explained the challenges she faces when counselling people living with disabilities. Kagiso Malaola, a student from Tshwane University of Technology who volunteers at the centre perform a poem that was inspiration and motivation to audiences and everyone seemed to have loved it as they chanted. 
The event went on where teachers and volunteers were introduced to the parents and community. The event was successful.

PIMP MY UNIFORM EVENT DAY

JUNE 15, 2017

On 15th June 2017, the NPO hosted a "Pimp My Uniform" event day in commemoration of Youth Day. Learners and staff were required to mix and pimp their uniforms to look different on the day. Parents were therefore asked to give their children R5 for donation on the day as to raise funds for the centre. 

The event was successful as learners and staff members pimped their uniform on the day and parents responded by giving learners donation of R5 as requested by the centre. Everyone looked unique and 16 June, Youth day was celebrated differently that day. 

The centre was able to raise funds through R5 donations by learners and staff members contributed the amount of R20 as their donations to the centre.

UNVEILING CEREMONY EVENT

SEPTEMBER 01, 2017

The centre hosted an unveiling ceremony for the palisade fence that was donated by Bi-Sided walling to the centre. The event was a fun-filled educational experience for both our beneficiaries, parents, community and other associates.The event was a sign of gratitude to Bi-Sided walling for their contribution of the palisade fence and also to raise awareness about the centre. 

The event was very successful and the effort of every parent, community member as well as other associates of the centre were really appreciated. Food and drinks were served and the day was celebrated successfully.

NELSON MANDELA DAY

JULY 18, 2017

The centre hosted an event of Nelson Mandela day sponsored by Cocacola. The local communities members came and assisted with cleaning and painting the centre. Cocacola company sponsored the centre with drinks and food for community members who were volunteering. The event was a success as everyone who participated managed to work for 67 minutes in the memory of President Nelson Mandela.
